Fixing a
Damaged Windows Registry – Which Way to Choose?
Many people feel unnerved when they think about
manually fixing their Windows registry. Even those with a lot
of computer knowledge will shy clear of trying a manual fix,
recognising that a simple mistake could find programs not
loading or software not running. This will normally require a
reinstall of the applications to make them work again,
something which is both a hassle and inconvenient.
There is though an alternative to a manual fix,
and that is to install and run a good Windows registry repair
program. These registry cleaners can fix registry issues
without the need to bring in an IT technician.
The Manual Fix
Of course there are those who will not want to purchase a
registry repair program and will attempt a manual fix, even
though it takes time. Saying that though it is always a good
idea to know about how manual editing of the Windows registry
can happen.
Editing the Windows registry is undertaken
through the Windows Registry Editor. The Editor can be run
through the following path –
Click Start >> Click Run
>> Type regedit >> Click OK
A new Windows window will open as per below
-
There are five separate folders which can be opened, each of
these folders relates to individual parts of the Windows
registry. From this point though, it takes specialised
knowledge to make changes to the correct parts of the registry,
knowledge which fills many books.
The Software Fix
So if you do not have the knowledge required, it doesn’t mean
you have to pay someone with the knowledge. A cheap and easier
option is available, which is simply the purchase of a good
registry repair program. The best like, RegCure, Error Nuker
and Registry Smart, are available as a download as well.
This is definitely the easiest option as once
installed, the program will scan through the Windows registry
and fix any registry problems it identifies, problems like
damaged registry keys and values. The fix may mean a repair or
deletion of damaged data, but will get the computer running
like new.
The best registry repair programs will also be
available as a free download, which will allow the programs to
run a scan of the Windows registry. This is a great way to find
out what problems are actually located in your Windows
registry.
It does seem strange that some people will
choose the manual fix option when there is a much easier option
available. A damaged Windows registry can be fixed with the
simple running of registry cleaner software, faster and easier
than any manual fix.
RegCure is the most recommended
of all registry repair programs and our reviews will explain
why RegCure is so popular. RegCure is also available as a
free download that allows a
scan of the Windows registry.
