The Error Doctor Review
Error Doctor is one of the most popular of all registry repair
programs. It is often quoted that 6.5million people have
downloaded the program, although the fact that it has been
downloaded so many times does not necessarily mean that it is a
good program. Through the review we give the good and bad
elements of the registry cleaner.
Error Doctor Features and
Functions
Error Doctor comes with all the features you would expect of a
good registry repair program. The basic scan feature comes with
an additional risk categorisation, as well as a customisation
feature that determines which areas are to be scanned. In most
cases though, it is preferential to scan the whole
registry.
Additional features include, Back-up and
Restore, future scan scheduling, as well as options that sees
Error Doctor run when the computer is started.
Disappointingly though, Error Doctor is without
a Start-up Manager. This feature on other registry repair
programs allows the user to pick and choose which programs are
loaded during computer start-up, and is a great tool when it
comes to speeding up a computer. Whilst its absence isn’t a
huge issue, it does detract slightly from the overall
product.
Ease of Installation
The Error Doctor file is easily and quickly downloaded, and
once the file is opened the registry cleaner automatically
starts to install. A click to accept the license agreement
completes the installation process.
Customer Support
There is basic support supplied with the full versions of Error
Doctor. This in essence means the use of support tickets to
obtain answers from an online helpdesk. The only questions
answered are about technical questions, payment questions and
lost passwords. Despite a weak support system, the response to
questions is surprisingly fast. Hopefully the support function
will never have to be used, but it is always a comfort when
there is a more comprehensive system in place.
Look
Error Doctor is an easy to use program and is also decently set
out. There may not be too many features to navigate around but
when it comes to scan and fix there are enough features to
repair a registry. The screenshots below show the layout of
Error Doctor, and also some of the features included.

The main Scan screen is used to scan the
Windows registry, where it is possible to customise the areas
to be scanned.

The screen to the right shows how keys can be
ignored from future scans if a user doesn’t require them to be
repaired or deleted in the future.

The Settings option allows for the
configuration of Error Doctor, although there is actually
limited choice. Error Doctor can be loaded when the computer is
started, and there is also the option to automatically commence
a scan when Error Doctor is launched.

The Scheduler tab is self-explanatory and
allows scan to be run at set future dates.
Our Overall Impression
Error Doctor is a good registry repair program and does
everything you expect of it. There is though only limited
advanced options which some users may be disappointed with. The
support system is also slightly disappointing.
